These terms govern the sale of restored cricket bats and restoration services by Clegg Cricket Co. ("we", "us", "our") to you ("the customer"). They are governed by the laws of England and Wales and do not affect your statutory rights as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
Clegg Cricket Co., The Old Workshop, Somerset, United Kingdom. Contact: workshop@cleggcricket.co.uk.
A binding contract is formed when we confirm acceptance of your order or commission in writing (by email). All bats are hand-restored, one-off items; descriptions and photographs are accurate at the time of listing but minor variations in grain, patina or weight are inherent to the craft.
Prices are shown in pounds sterling and are inclusive of UK VAT where applicable. Payment is taken in full at the point of order for stockroom bats; commissions require a 50% deposit on acceptance, with the balance due before despatch.
Stockroom bats are despatched within five working days. Commissioned restorations typically take six to eight weeks. Risk passes to you on delivery; title passes on receipt of cleared funds.
Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you have the right to cancel a stockroom purchase within 14 days of receipt without giving a reason. To exercise this right, contact us in writing and return the bat unused and in its original condition at your cost. We will refund the purchase price (including standard outbound delivery) within 14 days of receiving the returned bat.
Bespoke commissions — because each restoration is made to your specification, the right to cancel under the Regulations does not apply once work has begun. Your statutory rights in respect of faulty or misdescribed goods are unaffected.
Every bat we sell is restored to a high standard and is, under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. Aged willow is a natural material — fair wear, surface marks, edge dings and toe damage caused by normal use, yorkers or stones are not defects. We offer a goodwill workshop warranty against structural failure (splice, handle or face cracks not caused by misuse) for 90 days from delivery.
Bats are supplied lightly oiled and knocked-in but require continued care: further knocking-in before match use, oiling with raw linseed and avoidance of damp storage. We accept no liability for damage arising from inadequate preparation or misuse.
We do not exclude or limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to that, our total liability arising under or in connection with the contract is limited to the price paid for the bat or commission.
We process your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
If you have a complaint, please contact us at workshop@cleggcricket.co.uk and we will respond within ten working days. Disputes that cannot be resolved by agreement are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
